“How was it up on that mountain?” Elie asked after they put Ivy down for the night. She cuddled up close to Austin on the porch swing. Austin had been home for two weeks. He was almost back to normal. Thunder lay in front of the door. He automatically went to Ivy’s room to sleep when all the lights went out for the night. When she was awake, you couldn’t keep those two apart. They loved each other.

“We got about sixteen women and children out. The two policemen were arrested. They’ll spend time in prison.”

“I have something to tell you.”

“You sound serious. What is it?”

“I bought some sheep when you were away. They will be delivered tomorrow.”

“I remember you saying you were going to raise sheep. I have to tell you I know nothing about sheep.”

“That’s okay, I do. The ones we’re getting are lambs. We have to keep them close to the barn, so the wild animals don’t kill them.”

“If you need help, I want you to hire someone when I’m not here. I’ll help when I’m home.”

“Okay, I will. Callum is sending my two working dogs. They will keep the sheep in order. I’m used to having lots of animals to take care of. So don’t worry about me. I enjoy animals.”

“Sweetheart, I will always worry about you,” he replied. Austin pulled her on his lap and kissed her. He let his hand rub the inside of her thighs. Then he slipped his hand inside of her panties. “Damn, sweetheart, you’re ready for me.”

“I’m always ready for you. Why do you think I wore this dress today? I knew what would happen.”

Austin picked her up and carried her inside. He turned and locked the door and watched Thunder make his way to Ivy’s room. He laid Elie down and had both of their clothes off before she realized he had her stripped naked. They made love for hours that night.

When Austin woke up, he quietly went into Ivy’s room. He stopped when he heard a growl. “Good boy. Thunder. Come, I’ll let you out,” he said. Austin rubbed Thunder's head, “You are a good boy. I’m going to buy you some treats,” Austin added. He picked up a smiling Ivy, and they walked Thunder to the door.

He was feeding Ivy her breakfast when Elie walked into the kitchen. She bent her head and gave Ivy a kiss, then she sat on Austin’s lap and kissed him. Ivy was laughing. “What time are the lambs going to be here?”

“In about ten minutes. I just got a text. I’ll open the gate,” she replied. Elie had on her work clothes. She went out to where the lambs would stay until they got older and ensured everything was taken care of. She saw the truck coming down the driveway. She could hear the lambs crying before the truck stopped. A feeling of homesickness washed over her.

“What’s that sad face for?” Austin asked, putting his arm around her.

“The sheep make me a little homesick for Scotland.
